Unclaimed Parcels Found to Contain Over P20 Million Worth of Illegal Drugs

Authorities Seize Unclaimed Parcels Containing Illegal Drugs

Several unclaimed parcels in Pasay City were found to contain over P20 million worth of illegal drugs.

Authorities discovered a large amount of illegal drugs hidden inside five unclaimed parcels in Pasay City, raising serious concerns over attempts to smuggle narcotics through courier services.

The Bureau of Customs intercepted the parcels, which were declared as ordinary consumer items during routine inspection.

According to officials, the packages were flagged and held on December 15 after irregularities were noticed in their documents and contents. Upon closer examination, authorities discovered that the parcels contained nearly three kilograms of shabu and close to one kilogram of high-grade marijuana, also known as kush.

The total value of the seized drugs was estimated to be more than P20 million. The parcels were not claimed by any recipient, which further raised suspicion among customs officers.

It prompted a stricter inspection that led to the discovery of the illegal contents carefully hidden inside.

After the seizure, the Bureau of Customs immediately turned over the illegal drugs to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency for proper handling and further investigation. PDEA is now working to identify the people behind the failed smuggling attempt and trace where the parcels came from and where they were supposed to go.

Authorities believe that leaving the parcels unclaimed may have been an attempt to avoid being directly linked to the shipment in case it was intercepted. Despite this, investigators remain confident that leads will surface through careful tracking and coordination with other agencies.
