Man Found Dead in Tawi-Tawi After Alleged Crocodile Attack at Sea
A 56-year-old man was found dead at sea after he was allegedly attacked by a crocodile in Panglima Sugala, Tawi-Tawi.
On Friday (December 26, 2025), a man was found dead at sea due to an alleged crocodile attack. The incident has raised concern among nearby villages.
According to initial reports, the man’s body was seen floating in the waters near Barangay Dungon. Fisherfolk and residents who noticed the body immediately alerted local authorities. When the body recovered, visible wounds were found on the right side of his stomach, neck, and thigh. Many in the area believe these injuries were caused by a crocodile attack.
The victim had reportedly gone out to collect firewood along the coast. This was part of his daily routine, as he planned to sell the wood to earn a small income. Unfortunately, the supposed simple task turned into a fatal incident.
Residents later captured a crocodile in the same area where the body was found. Authorities are now looking into the possibility that the animal was responsible for the attack. While the investigation continues, the presence of crocodiles in nearby waters has become a serious concern for the community.
Local officials have warned residents to be extra careful, especially those who depend on the sea and coastal areas for their livelihood. This is not the first incident in recent weeks, as another person was reportedly injured earlier after a similar crocodile encounter.
These incidents have raised fear among families who live close to the water.
Authorities
are now coordinating with wildlife and environmental groups to monitor the situation and prevent further harm. Residents are being advised to avoid areas known to be crocodile habitats, especially early in the morning or late in the afternoon.
