Rules of ICC May Prevent Holiday Visits for Duterte amid his Wish
Former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte remains detained under the custody of the International Criminal Court in The Hague, Netherlands for 9 months now. He is faced with three (3) counts of murder as alleged “crimes against humanity” filed by the prosecution team.
Last November 28, the
ICC rejected the interim release appeal of former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte
. The decision of the judges was unanimous and it saddened countless supporters of the former President who call for his house arrest.
Duterte’s lawyer, Nicholas Kaufman, stressed that they did everything for the interim release appeal of former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte. He also confirmed that they might file another appeal for the interim release of the 80-year-old former President.

However, it seems that it is not only on Christmas Day that regular visits will not be allowed by the ICC but as well as on New Year’s Day. Based on a report on Inquirer, the foreign court is on judicial recess from December 12 to January 5.
