Sen. Ping Lacson Speaks on Pres. Bongbong Marcos amid Corruption Issues in PH Gov’t

PING LACSON

– The Senator hopes that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. “will not waver” in the fight against corruption.

Marcos Jr. previously vowed that the government will run after those who are involved in the multi-billion flood control issue

. The supposed massive corruption led thousands of Filipinos to protest and call for accountability from the government.

The ‘Trillion Peso March’ was held last September and November 2025 and thousands of people joined the action protests. Many celebrities in the showbiz industry joined the rally.

Amid the issue, Pres.

Bongbong Marcos previously called on the accused in the flood control issue to surrender

and not wait for the authorities to run after them. He also warned those who will help the individuals with a pending arrest warrant that they will have to pay for the consequence of helping them hide.

Amid the flood control mess, Marcos Jr. ordered the creation of the Independent Commission for Infrastructure or ICI. The commission was created to investigate the supposed multi-billion flood control corruption that allegedly involved congressmen, senators, and officials of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

Recently, amid the flood control mess, Senate President Pro Tempore Ping Lacson spoke on Pres. Bongbong Marcos. He expressed his hope that Marcos Jr. will remain firm in the fight against corruption in the Philippine government.

“I hope the President will not waver in his remaining years in office. I thought the momentum was already on his side with his famous ‘Mahiya naman kayo’ SONA remark,”

the Senator said.

Senate President Pro Tempore Ping Lacson also reacted to the low trust ratings of Pres. Bongbong Marcos. Based on a report on PhilStar, the former Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief turned Senator stressed that the public perception has not been kind on the President.

“Unfortunately, the Filipino people’s perception has not been kind to him, as what the latest surveys have indicated,”
