LTO Summons Driver Involved in Cavite Road Rage Incident
The Land Transportation Office has taken action against a driver involved in a road rage incident in Cavite.
The incident raised serious concerns after a video showed unsafe and aggressive behavior on a busy road, putting passengers and other motorists at risk.
in the video, the driver of Ford Everest was seen shouting and cursing at a bus driver. The situation quickly escalated when the SUV driver damaged the bus’s windshield wiper.
The act caused alarm, especially since the bus was carrying passengers who could have been harmed by the driver’s actions.
After reviewing the incident, the LTO issued a show cause order and a subpoena against the SUV driver and the owners of both the SUV and the public bus. Records from the LTO showed that the SUV was last registered on July 7, 2024.
LTO Chief Markus Lacanilao ordered the SUV driver and owner to appear at the LTO office on January 14. They were instructed to explain why the driver should not be held responsible for reckless driving or have his driver’s license revoked for being unfit to operate a motor vehicle.
While the investigation is ongoing, the driver’s license has been placed under a 90-day preventive suspension.
The SUV involved has also been placed on alarm status, meaning it will be closely monitored by authorities. This step is meant to ensure that the vehicle is not used improperly while the case is being reviewed.
At the same time, the LTO also required the bus driver and the bus owner to attend a hearing. They were asked to bring their driver’s license and all necessary vehicle documents as part of the investigation.
The LTO stressed that traffic rules exist to keep everyone safe on the road. Authorities reminded drivers to stay calm, patient, and respectful always.
