Break-In Suspect Stole Delivery Rider’s Bicycle in Marikina City
Marcus Villegas, a 22 year old delivery rider, was preparing to leave for work around eight in the morning when he noticed that his mountain bike was missing. He immediately felt worried because he had carefully parked it inside their garden before resting. Without the bike, he knew he would not be able to complete his deliveries for the day.
Police officers assisted him in searching nearby areas. While patrolling around Marikina Heights, they spotted a man riding a mountain bike that matched the description of the stolen one.
The suspect tried to hide in a vacant lot, blending into the tall grass, but officers eventually found and arrested him after a short search. The stolen bicycle, worth about P15,000, was recovered.
However, the delivery bag was already gone and had been replaced with a yellow crate used for trading goods. Police said the 33-year-old suspect had previous jail records and was only released last November due to an illegal gambling case.
The suspect did not admit the crime but told authorities he wanted to change his life and apologized for what happened. He is detained at Marikina Police Custodial Facility and is facing a theft charge.
