Suspect in Woman’s Killing Inside Storage Box Surrenders to Police

Authorities Arrest Suspect in Woman’s Killing Inside Storage Box After He Voluntarily Surrendered

The suspect linked to the killing of a woman whose body was found inside a storage box has voluntarily surrendered to authorities.

The body was earlier discovered after the box was transported from Laguna to Camarines Norte and later dumped into a river in Barangay Pinagwarasan, Basud on January 2, 2026.

The suspect, who is from Rosario, Batangas, was brought to the Cabuyao City Police Station shortly after midnight on Wednesday, January 7. Police confirmed that he surrendered on his own and is now under their custody while the investigation continues.

Authorities said the suspect chose not to give a detailed statement to the media but expressed confidence that the truth would come out through proper police investigation. He is believed to be the live-in partner of the victim.

According to the Basud Police, several witnesses helped authorities piece together the case. These included individuals who saw the suspect along the route, such as a tricycle driver and a bus driver, whose information eventually led police to track the suspect and encourage him to surrender peacefully.

Earlier, the suspect’s father revealed that his son admitted to him that the woman had died during an argument, which he claimed was not intentional. The father said the couple had been drinking and got into a heated fight, which may have led to the tragic incident.

The victim was identified as Anelis Agocoy, 38 years old, originally from Barangay Buga, Catarman, Camiguin. Her cousin confirmed that she had been living with the suspect, who works as a security guard in Basud, the same town where her body was later found.
