An individual was caught on camera jaywalking along the northbound side of the
South Luzon Expressway (SLEX)
on Monday, January 5.

Jaywalking is not considered a criminal offense in the country. However, under the
Metropolitan Manila Development Authority’s
Anti-Jaywalking Ordinance, violators may face a minimum fine of P200.
In 2021, the traffic authority said offenders could be fined P500 or required to render community service.
Jaywalking refers to the act of crossing the street at locations other than designated crosswalks or pedestrian lanes.
