Weak Whale Washes Ashore in Aborlan, Palawan

Weak Whale Found Along Shoreline of Aborlan, Palawan

A weak whale was found stranded along the shoreline of Little Siargao in Barangay Apurawan Aborlan, Palawan.

On Thursday morning, January 8, 2026, the sea creature was found by the residents of Aborlan, Palawan and quickly drew attention from people in the area.

According to Alvin Garcia, the first person who noticed the whale, the animal was already stuck on the shore between 9:00 and 10:00 in the morning. The whale appeared weak and was barely moving, causing worry among residents who feared its condition.

Wanting to help, six individuals tried to lift the whale and guide it back to the deeper part of the sea. However, due to the animal’s size and condition, their efforts were unsuccessful. The whale remained stranded, and the group realized that it would be unsafe to continue without proper equipment and expert guidance.

Instead of forcing the animal back into the water, they decided to wait for assistance from authorities. They immediately contacted the Palawan Council for Sustainable Development staff to report the situation and seek advice on the next steps. The decision to wait was made to avoid causing further harm to the whale.

As of this writing, there has been no official update from the Palawan Council for Sustainable Development regarding the condition of the whale or whether it was successfully rescued.

Residents continue to hope for a positive outcome, as many understand the importance of protecting marine life.

Authorities also encourage the public to report similar cases immediately and avoid taking action without guidance from experts.

For the people of Aborlan, the sight of the stranded whale was a rare and emotional moment, highlighting the strong connection between coastal communities and the sea they depend on.
