Harry Roque Drops Bombshell Statement on UniTeam & Leadership Failures
HARRY ROQUE – Former Presidential Spokesperson and lawyer Harry Roque surprised many Filipinos after publicly expressing remorse over his role in backing the UniTeam during the last elections.
Roque said he now acknowledges the mistake he made and is willing to accept full accountability for backing the UniTeam. He explained that this realization came after serious thought about the country’s current condition and the challenges surrounding national leadership. In his statement, he directly addressed his regret, saying,
“Malaki ang pagsisisi ko sa pagsuporta sa UniTeam pero ayan ang pagkakamaling tinatanggap ko. Ito po ang buong paliwanag.”

Harry Roque also appealed to the public to move forward and redirect their attention toward more urgent national issues instead of lingering on past political choices. Roque emphasized the value of responsibility and effective governance, encouraging Filipinos to be more critical and thoughtful when choosing leaders.
“Let’s move on!! At tanggalin na natin ang mga walang kakayahang mamuno!”
said Roque.
In addition, he stressed the importance of public awareness amid the current political climate. According to Roque, the daily struggles faced by ordinary citizens should come first, outweighing political conflicts and unnecessary distractions.
“At magising na tayo dahil ang atin pong pinaglalaban ngayon yung ating mga pang araw-araw na buhay,”
he said.
Although Roque did not elaborate further or mention specific personalities, his remarks quickly sparked varied reactions online. Some netizens expressed shock over his admission, while others questioned the timing of his statement, particularly as discussions on leadership and the nation’s direction continue to intensify.
In recent months, Roque has repeatedly criticized President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and his administration. These attacks were reportedly shaped by his personal experiences and his continued association with and support for the Duterte family.
Currently, Roque is seeking asylum while dealing with a pending case involving alleged human trafficking connected to Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs). Earlier, an arrest order had already been issued against him after he failed to appear at a House inquiry concerning POGO Lucky South 99, where he was identified as the alleged legal counsel.
