Interior Sec. Remulla Speaks on Order of Pres. Marcos Jr. Amid the Flood Control Mess

MARCOS JR.

– Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Jonvic Remulla claims that the President wants an extradition treat with Portugal for the arrest of Zaldy Co.

One of the alleged giant role players in the supposed multi-billion flood control scam in the Philippines is former House Budget Appropriations Committee chairman Elizalde “Zaldy” Co. Several witnesses in the flood control issue accused Co of alleged budget insertion and supposedly receiving kickbacks from the flood control projects.

Co was already out of the Philippines when the issue broke out and he refused to return to the country. Amid his supposed hiding abroad, he tagged the President in the budget insertion issue in the country.

According to

Zaldy Co, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and former House Speaker Martin Romualdez were allegedly behind a P100-billion insertion

in the 2025 budget. He also claimed that the President and the former House Speaker allegedly received kickbacks.

”Nagbigay ng instruction si President na formally mag-apply na kami ng extradition treaty sa kanila kahit wala pang extradition treaties between the two countries. Pero through the Interpol, magrerequest na kami ng repatriation ni Zaldy Co kung nasa Portugal talaga siya,”

Remulla said.

Based on the

report

, Zaldy Co is believed to be in Portugal amid the flood control issue now. There is a suspicion that the former House member is holding a Portuguese passport “acquired so many years ago”.

Amid the claims of Zaldy Co, Navotas Congressman

Toby Tiangco believes that Marcos Jr. is allegedly not involved in the flood control corruption

. He claimed that there was allegedly an instance when the President confronted Zaldy Co.
