Contractor Sarah Discaya Faced w/ Charges over Alleged P96.5 Million “Ghost” Flood Control Project
SARAH DISCAYA
– The controversial contractor pleaded “not guilty” to corruption and malversation charges filed against her and 9 others.
Aside from the officials of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), the members of the House of Representatives, and some senators and former senators, there are also contractors who were tagged in the supposed multi-billion flood control corruption in the country. The issue triggered the so-called “Trillion Peso March”.

Contractor couple Curlee and Sarah Discaya are among the contractors who were tagged in the flood control mess. Undeniably, among the accused contractors, they are the most popular.
Past interviews of the Discayas with Julius Babao and Korina Sanchez went viral on social media amid the flood control accusations against them. In the said interviews, the couple flaunted their lavish lifestyles.
However, the recent Christmas of the Discayas were not merry. Aside from the previous seizure of the custody of many of their luxury vehicles, both of them were under detention. Curlee Discaya remains under the custody of the Senate.

. She was arrested over an alleged P96.5 million “ghost” flood control project in Davao Occidental. Aside from her, 9 other individuals were also arrested.

The “not guilty” plea of Sarah Discaya and 9 others on the graft and malversation charges were made before Presiding Judge Nelson Leyco. Based on the

, lawyer Cornelio Samaniego III, the legal counsel of Ma. Roma Angeline Rimando, moved for a joint ocular inspection of the Davao Occidental project in the pursuit of proving its existence. According to him, his client is willing to shoulder all of the expenses for the inspection of the project.
“The project was there, it was erected, it was built. So, there’s no ghost project as alleged in the criminal information. Might as well have the ocular inspection para makita, kasi nagsasayang tayo ng oras dito kung nandoon naman talaga yong project,”
Samaniego said.
