Amid the flood control issue in the Philippines, Pres.

Bongbong Marcos ordered the creation of an independent commission for the flood control probe

and he wanted it to have a subpoena power. The executive order led to the creation of the Independent Commission for Infrastructure or ICI.

The ICI started as a three-member body led by former Justice Andres Reyes Jr. They held closed-door sessions for the flood control investigation and several officials of the government were invited for the probe.

Former House Speaker Martin Romualdez, former Senate Pres. Chiz Escudero, and Sen. Joel Villanueva were among the government officials who appeared before the ICI. The commission also invited contractors and former officials of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) who were tagged in the flood control mess.

the Palace official said.

The statement of Malacañang came after ICI special adviser Rodolfo Azurin Jr. claimed that they will write to Marcos Jr. for clarification and guidance on what will happen to the commission. Based on the

report

, Atty. Claire Castro told the public to just wait if the commission will write to the President so he can answer it.

”So, kung sila po ay susulat sa Pangulo, hintayin po natin ang kanilang panawagan sa Pangulo para po masagot naman ito ng Pangulo,”

Castro expressed.

Amid the flood control issue in the country, presidential sister and Senator

Imee Marcos claimed that she is “sad” that only senators are allegedly being targeted in the flood control mess and not former Speaker Martin Romualdez
