DILG Sec. Jonvic Remulla Speaks on Alleged Bribe over Flood Control Mess
REMULLA
– The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary claimed that he and his Ombudsman brother were allegedly offered P1 billion to quiet down the flood control probe.
The flood control mess in the Philippines left countless Filipinos not only in the country but as well as abroad angry. The supposed multi-billion corruption even drove thousands of people to the streets to protest against corruption.

The so-called “Trillion Peso March” was held last September and November. Then, Malacañang said that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is not worried over the rally as the protest is against corruption.
Marcos Jr. himself claimed that he might also be in the streets to protest against corruption if he is not the President. He vowed that the government will run after those who are involved in the flood control scam.
Amid the issue, the Independent Commission for Infrastructure was created under an executive order.
Marcos Jr. even wants the ICI to continue its flood control investigation even after the resignation of two (2) members
of the commission.
DILG Sec. Jonvic Remulla previously stressed that the Marcos Jr. administration remains committed in the pursuit of accountability over the flood control issue. Recently, he claimed that there was allegedly an attempt to bribe him and his Ombudsman brother.
“May nabanggit sa ‘kin kung pwede raw. Sabi ko, ‘Huwag na ako kausapin. Huwag na tayo mag-usap kung ganyan lang.’ Tinigil ko na ‘yung usapan,”
the younger Remulla said.
According to the DILG Secretary, the P1 billion alleged offer to him and Ombudsman Boying Remulla were supposedly through a mutual friend who is close to both of them and an unnamed personality who was tagged in the flood control issue.
Interior Sec. Jonvic Remulla further claimed that he immediately informed Pres. Ferdinand Marcos Jr. about the supposed P1-billion bribe to him and his Ombudsman brother. Based on the
report
, he claimed that the President said that it might happen and he made the right response to it.
“It was a private meeting and I informed the President immediately what was going on. And I said, ‘Okay.’ He knows it was bound to happen, but he acknowledged na tama ‘yung ginawa ko dahil tumanggi na ako,”
the DILG Chief said.
