Young Man Loses Life After Brutal Attack by Girlfriend’s Former Partner in Laguna
A young man lost his life after being violently attacked by the former live-in partner of his girlfriend in Calamba, Laguna.
In the early hours of Friday, January 9, 2026, the 21-year-old victim identified as James, was asleep beside his girlfriend when the suspect suddenly entered the room in Barangay Siete.
CCTV footage showed the suspect opening the door and turning on the light. He was shocked to see his former partner, Leana, with her current boyfriend. Overcome by anger, he immediately started punching and kicking James.
Leana tried to stop the attack, but the suspect refused to listen and continued his attack. James was hit with at least 20 punches and several strong kicks to the head. He was unable to fight back and remained helpless throughout the incident.
After the attack, the suspect quickly left the house. Police said the suspect had been in a relationship with Leana two years ago and previously lived in the same room.
The suspect claimed he went there to get clothes for their four-year-old child, but Leana said she never gave him permission to enter the house, especially at such a late hour. She also revealed that the suspect appeared to be drunk at the time.
James was rushed to the hospital and stayed there for four days after complaining of severe headaches. Despite his condition, he even celebrated his birthday inside the hospital on January 11.
Unfortunately, his health worsened, and he passed away on the afternoon of January 14, 2026 (Wednesday) due to serious head injuries. Both Leana and James’ mother believe jealousy led to the violent attack.
The suspect has been missing since January 10 and is now facing a murder case. The family of James is asking for financial help to pay for hospital bills and burial expenses, which have reached about P200,000.
