LTO Suspends Rider’s License for 90 Days Over Video Call While Driving

Rider’s License Suspend by LTO for 90 Days for Violating Traffic Policy

The Land Transportation Office suspended the rider’s license for 90 days after he was caught on video making a video call while driving.

According to the order, the rider and the motorcycle owner are required to appear before the Intelligence and Investigation Division on January 16, 2026 (Friday), at 10:00 in the morning. The hearing will take place at the LTO office along East Avenue in Quezon City.

They are expected to explain why the rider should not be penalized for violations such as reckless driving, distracted driving, and being an improper person to operate a motor vehicle.

While the investigation is ongoing, the rider’s license has already been suspended for three months. The motorcycle involved has also been placed under alarm status to prevent its use during the inquiry.

The agency stressed that this step is meant to protect the public and send a clear message about the dangers of careless driving.

Officials reminded motorists that using a cellphone while driving, especially during a video call, puts lives at risk. It reduces focus, slows reaction time, and can easily lead to serious accidents. The agency emphasized that traffic rules are in place to keep everyone safe, not just drivers but also passengers and pedestrians.
