Duterte’s Former Spox Harry Roque Reacts To ICC Call for “Direct Witnesses”

– The former Spokesman of ex-President Rodrigo Roa Duterte slammed the International Criminal Court (ICC) for calling for direct witnesses against his drug war.

The ICC rejected the interim release bid of former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte anew last November 28. The former Chief Executive is detained under the custody of the foreign court in The Hague, Netherlands since March 2025.

Recently, former Pres.

Rodrigo Duterte’s lawyer, Nicholas Kaufman, initiated another move for the interim release plea

of the former President. He sought for additional medical report from the ICC but the foreign court denied his request.

The medical experts tapped by the ICC previously found former Pres. Duterte fit to stand trial based on a source. The findings are contrary to the claim of the British-Israeli Lawyer that his client is allegedly unfit to stand trial and suffers from cognitive impairment.

Recently, the ICC opened a microsite as it called for “direct witnesses” on the Duterte drug war. The foreign court appealed to the members of the law enforcement agencies including the Philippine National Police (PNP) who wants to testify against the previous administration’s campaign.

on social media, he slammed the ICC’s appeal citing the length of stay of th former President under the custody of the foreign court.

” Roque stated in his post.

Harry Roque is also in The Netherlands for several months now. Duterte’s former Spokesman even claimed that he stayed abroad for a year now. He went into hiding after the House of Representatives ordered his arrest for contempt over his supposed linked to the illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming operations.
