The death toll from the Cebu trash landslide is now at 35.
CEBU TRASH LANDSLIDE – As of the latest figures, the death toll from the unfortunate incident has risen to 35, with one still missing.
The landslide that occurred in
Barangay Binaliw landfill
in Cebu City has buried dozens of people, and while the rescue operations are still ongoing, the figures of the death toll also continue to rise. Cebu City Councilor Dave Tumulak confirmed on Saturday that deaths from the incident have already gone up to 35.
On Saturday alone, three dead bodies were recovered: two at 2:53 PM and one at 3:10 PM. All three are yet to be identified. As of this writing, there’s still one person missing.
“This is Santo Niño’s Miracle that we are now just looking for one out of 36,”
Tumulak said, as they are now down to finding the last victim of the tragic trash slide, which toppled on January 8, that buried sanitation workers. The search operations for the last victim of the trash slide will continue.
