Aspin Dies After Being Stabbed for Taking a Small Piece of Meat

An aspin was stabbed to death after taking a small piece of meat from a public market in Barangay 154, Caloocan City.

On early Wednesday morning, January 7, 2026, CCTV footage from Malolos Avenue showed the hungry dog approaching a yellow plastic crate that contained meat. The Aspin managed to grab a piece before a man wearing an apron, believed to be guarding the stall, quickly reacted.

Instead of chasing the dog away, the man picked up a knife and stabbed the animal. The attack was sudden and violent.

“Makikita talagang sinaksak ‘yung aso ng isang suspek,”

Caloocan City Veterinary Department. Administrative Officer 1 Ian Estopa said.

Despite being badly injured, the dog still managed to run away. About two hours later, police found Aspin weak and bleeding. They rushed the dog to a veterinary hospital in hopes of saving its life.

Unfortunately, due to the severity of its injuries and physical trauma, the dog did not survive despite the efforts of veterinarians.

“Sinubukan namang iligtas ng doktor, kaso eventually namatay ‘yung aso because of severe physical trauma,”

Estopa added.

City officials stressed that hungry animals act on instinct, especially stray or neglected dogs searching for food.

The local government reminded the public that hurting or killing animals is prohibited under the Animal Welfare Act. Acts of cruelty, regardless of the reason, are punishable by law. Authorities also noted that the dog’s owner may face responsibility under local ordinances for allowing the animal to roam freely.

City officials assured the public that the case will be pursued to prevent similar incidents. They urged residents to report stray or troublesome animals to the proper offices instead of harming them.
