LTO Identifies Motorcycle Rider Who Failed to Give Way to Firetruck in Bacolod City

The Land Transportation Office has finally identified the motorcycle rider who failed to give way to a firetruck responding to a fire in Bacolod City.

According to the LTO, the rider was identified after officers checked the motorcycle’s plate number through their information technology system. The plate number matched official records, which helped authorities confirm both the owner and the person driving the motorcycle at the time of the incident.

The LTO explained that the rider violated several traffic rules, including provisions under the Land Transportation and Traffic Code. These rules require all motorists to give way to emergency vehicles, especially those responding to urgent situations such as fires. Failing to do so can delay rescue efforts and put lives at risk.

During the investigation, authorities also discovered that the motorcycle rider works as a call center agent and does not have a valid driver’s license. This added to the list of violations connected to the case.

Officials stressed that driving without a license is a serious offense that endangers not only the driver but also other people on the road.

The agency issued a show cause order to both the motorcycle owner and the rider. They are required to explain why they should not be penalized for reckless driving, obstruction, driving without a license, and having a vehicle with delinquent registration.

The LTO also pointed out that the motorcycle owner may face penalties for allowing someone without a license to drive the vehicle. Authorities reminded vehicle owners to be responsible and ensure that only authorized and licensed drivers are allowed to use their vehicles.
