Kiko Barzaga has to face another cyberlibel complaint
National Unity Party (NUP) Chairperson and House Deputy Speaker Ronaldo Puno has filed cyberlibel complaints against Cavite 4th District Representative Francisco Kiko Barzaga.
Barzaga became controversial because of his intriguing social media posts about politicians, especially regarding the anomalous flood control projects. Even President Bongbong Marcos became a subject of his controversial posts.
Because of that, the Ethics Committee released an order for his
60-day suspension
. Ahead of the lifting of his suspension, reports stated that this might be extended because of a
possible filing of a second ethics complaint against him

, but stressed that it was an admission of guilt.
Based on the report from Inquirer, Rep. Ronaldo Puno also filed a cyberlibel complaint against Barzaga. The legal action stems from Barzaga’s social media allegations that NUP members accepted bribes from Enrique Razon Jr. to secure the election of Leyte Representative Ferdinand Martin Romualdez as Speaker of the 20th Congress.

In a statement released on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, Puno confirmed that he filed the complaints at the Office of the City Prosecutor in Antipolo City, the district he serves. Barzaga is a former member of the NUP.
Actions have consequences, especially when they are malicious and clearly intended to destroy reputations without any basis,”
the House Deputy Speaker said.
Puno also stressed that Barzaga cannot casually accuse someone of a crime publicly and just hide behind social media antics. “We will pursue full accountability under the law,” the congressman said.
He also said that other members of NUP are in the process of filing their own complaints against Rep. Kiko Barzaga. Puno stressed that this is not about rhetoric, but about protecting their reputations and enforcing accountability amid false accusations against them.
