The public has been warned about a website claiming to be the portal of the
Land Transportation Office (LTO)
after an individual raised awareness about receiving a scam text.
Upon checking the official LTO website, the reader found that they had no record at all.
“I made the mistake of clicking the link, but thankfully, I didn’t enter any details. I went to the official LTO website (https://portal.lto.gov.ph), and I was able to log in and confirm that I had not received any violations at all. Sharing to educate about this scam,” the reader added.
Land Transportation Management System (LTMS)
portal alongside another link claiming to be the portal.
“To be clear, the real LTO site is the first one (the predominantly blue one),” the page said.
The LTMS portal is a platform of the LTO where drivers can access their
electronic driver’s license
, view unsettled violations on their profile, check their violation history, apply for license renewal, or request corrections to their records, among other options.
Its official link is
https://portal.lto.gov.ph
Last year, an individual also raised awareness about receiving a scam text from a number impersonating the LTO.
The message claimed that the recipient had a traffic violation that needed to be settled through a link supposedly leading to the LTO portal.
However, the link did not contain the legitimate LTMS website.
