The lawyer of Senator Bato Dela Rosa stated that they will “respond accordingly” in case the senator faces an ethics complaint.

Due to the continued absence of Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa from his work, former senator Antonio Trillanes IV will reportedly file an ethics complaint against him. Dela Rosa remains in hiding, but on Wednesday, when he turned 64, he broke his silence, saying he is “alive and well, and gratefully celebrating 64 years of my God-given life.”

With his extended absence in the Senate, Trillanes warned about filing an ethics complaint, and his lawyer, Attorney Israelito Torreon, said that if it is properly served according to the Senate rules, they will respond accordingly.

“If it will be served properly and accordance with the Senate rules, we will respond accordingly. As to what is that ‘respond accordingly’, abangan po natin ang susunod na kabanata,”

Torreon said.

He added that he is unable to directly talk to the lawmaker, but he can reach out to his wife to discuss the matter. He also refused to answer whether the senator is still in the country or not.

Before becoming a senator, Dela Rosa served as the first Philippine National Police chief appointed by then-President Rodrigo Duterte. As of the latest, his last location was in Davao.
