Bongbong Marcos Responds to Fresh Attempts to Unseat Him
BONGBONG MARCOS – President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. addressed swirling health rumors and political noise after his recent hospitalization, sending a clear message to both the public and his critics.
Marcos was recently admitted to the hospital after being diagnosed with diverticulitis, a medical condition involving the inflammation of small pockets in the intestines or colon. Amid speculation about the seriousness of his condition, the President addressed the public through a video statement, reassuring Filipinos that there was no cause for alarm.
Bongbong Marcos also had a message for those who were allegedly eager to see him removed from power.
the President said, downplaying the rumors surrounding his health. He further stressed that the public should not be worried, adding,
“Don’t worry. The rumors of my death are highly exaggerated.”
According to President Marcos, his condition has significantly improved since he was first rushed to the hospital.
“I’m fine. I’m feeling very different from the way I was feeling before. The problem has been solved. What happened was I apparently now have diverticulitis,”
he explained. He also acknowledged that diverticulitis is a common condition, especially among individuals under stress and as they age.
Due to his health condition, Marcos was unable to attend the awarding ceremony of The Outstanding Young Men 2025 held at Malacañang on Thursday morning, January 22. Executive Secretary Ralph Recto represented him at the event, according to the Presidential Communications Office. The President also canceled his scheduled visit to Ilocos Norte on Friday, January 23.

On the same day, the activist group Bagong Alyansang Makabayan filed its second impeachment complaint against Marcos this week. However, the complaint was not accepted by the Office of the House Secretary General as House Secretary General Cheloy Garafil was out of the country, currently in Taipei to receive the Order of the Brilliant Star with Grand Cordon.
Earlier, lawyer Andre de Jesus had also filed an impeachment complaint against the President over alleged involvement in a 2025 corruption scheme related to unprogrammed appropriations and other issues. Malacañang has since dismissed both impeachment complaints.
