Truck Driver Smelling of Alcohol Injured After Crashing Into EDSA Barriers

Truck Driver Reeking of Alcohol Injured Crashed Into Concrete Barriers in EDSA

A truck driver reeking of alcohol gets injured after crashing into several concrete barriers and traffic cones along EDSA Quezon Avenue.

On early Wednesday morning, January 28, 2026, a 26-year-old truck driver was injured after the vehicle he was driving crashed into EDSA barriers. The incident happened when most motorists were still enjoying light traffic on the busy highway.

According to initial reports, the truck suddenly hit multiple concrete barriers, causing some of them to be thrown onto nearby lanes. A bus passing through the area was affected after it was struck by one of the barriers that flew off.

A sedan was also sideswiped by the truck during the crash, adding to the damage and tension at the scene.

Volunteer responders rushed to help the injured driver. The truck driver suffered facial injuries and had several scratches on his body. Responders also noticed that he smelled of alcohol. He had a bleeding nose that was immediately cleaned and treated at the scene.

The driver was coming from Monumento in Caloocan City and was on his way to Pasay City when the accident happened. After receiving initial assistance, he was brought to the Quezon City Police District Traffic Sector 4 for further investigation and proper documentation.

The crash caused damage to four concrete barriers and one traffic cone. Because the truck blocked part of the road, traffic along the area became heavy and slow-moving. Motorists experienced delays during the early morning rush.

Traffic conditions slowly improved after authorities and responders worked together to clear the road. The truck was finally removed from the area around 5:35 a.m., allowing traffic to return to normal.
