Bataraza, Palawan Local Officials Ask Philippine Looper to Issue Public Apology Over Breakfast Issue
Local officials of Bataraza, Palawan are asking Ferdinand dela Merced, also known as Philippine Looper, to issue a public apology.
According to Dela Merced, his experience left him feeling ignored and unappreciated, especially since he expected better treatment during the activity. The post quickly spread on social media and sparked mixed reactions from the public.
The Municipal Tourism Office of Bataraza explained that breakfast was prepared and offered to him during the event. Officials said food was available and that he was encouraged to eat while waiting for the program to continue.
However, it appeared that the food provided was not accepted, which may have caused confusion and misunderstanding.
“Sabi ko sa kanya, ‘Pwede ba tapusin muna natin ‘yung mga guest natin mag-speech? Magkain ka muna ng sandwich, meron diyan.’ Hindi ko po alam na hindi pala niya kinain ang sandwich. Hindi ko rin alam kung kumakain ba siya ng sandwich o hindi,”
Bataraza Tourism Office Junaile Dawili said.
A member of the Palawan provincial board also expressed disappointment over the situation. The official pointed out that Dela Merced was not officially invited to the event and had only insisted on attending.
He explained that the program had scheduled performers and guests, and the attention of organizers was focused on managing the event properly.
“May darating na mga banda tulad ni Elias. Syempre ang atensyon ng mga tao doon na talaga. Okay lang sana kung invited siya as a celebrity, ‘yun pwede siya magreklamo na napabayaan siya,”
he added.
