SARA DUTERTE’S CAMP
– The lawyer of the Vice President spoke on the two (2) impeachment raps recently filed against her.
Today,
two (2) impeachment complaints were separately filed against Vice Pres. Sara Duterte
before the Office of the Secretary General of the House of Representatives. The first impeachment rap was filed by the
Makabayan
bloc.
In the first impeachment case filed by the
Makabayan
bloc against the Vice President, Duterte is accused of alleged betrayal of public trust and gross abuse of discretionary powers over the alleged misuse of the P625-million confidential funds of the Office of the Vice President (OVP) and the Department of Education (DepEd).
Shortly after the
Makabayan
bloc filed the first impeachment rap against the Vice President,
Tindig Pilipinas
filed another complaint. In the said complaint endorsed by
Mamamayang Liberal
party-list Representative Leila de Lima and Akbayan party-list Rep. Perci Cendaña, the Vice President is accused of alleged culpable violations of the Constitution, graft and corruption, bribery, betrayal of public trust, and other high crimes.
Even prior to the filing of the impeachment raps, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte’s camp is reportedly ready for the possibilities that fresh impeachment complaints will be filed against her after the ban is lifted. According to the Vice President, she has talked to her lawyers already before the Christmas break.
Based on the
report
, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte’s camp claimed its prepared to face the accusations against the Vice President. Atty. Michael Poa called the impeachment raps as allegedly ‘baseless’.
“We are prepared to confront these allegations squarely through the proper constitutional processes, confident that a fair and impartial review will demonstrate that the accusations are devoid of both factual and legal basis,”
Poa said.
