PAGASA Says Tropical Depression Basyang to Affect PH Weather Condition

Tropical Depression Basyang has entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility, bringing cloudy skies, rains, and stronger winds over parts of the country.

On Wednesday (February 4, 2026), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. Tropical Depression Basyang will affect the country’s weather condition.

The residents in affected areas are being advised to stay alert and prepared.

Signal No. 1 has already been raised over the southern part of Surigao del Sur. Several towns and cities in the province may experience moderate to strong winds and periods of rain within the next 36 hours.

Basyang is expected to make landfall over eastern Mindanao or nearby areas of Eastern Visayas between Thursday evening (February 5) and early Friday (February 6). After crossing land, it is expected to weaken gradually as it moves across parts of Mindanao and the Visayas before reaching the Sulu Sea.

By early next week, the tropical depression may further weaken into a low-pressure area.
