Sen. Bato dela Rosa Yet To Appear in Senate Sessions But Proposes New Measure

– Amid his supposed ‘hiding’, the Senator pushed for an act seeking for traffic safety education for kindergarten, elementary, and high school students.
Sen. Dela Rosa is no show in the Senate sessions since November 11. His long absence from the chamber started after Ombudsman Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla claimed that the International Criminal Court (ICC) allegedly released an arrest warrant against him.

During the term of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte, Sen. Bato dela Rosa was the first chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP). A certain “dela Rosa” described as chief PNP was mentioned in the case of the former President before the ICC.
Sen. Bato dela Rosa has always been vocal that he is supposedly the next target of the foreign court for its investigation of the Duterte drug war. Amid his prolonged absence, the
lawyer of Sen. Bato dela Rosa previously expressed his belief that the Filipino people allegedly understands his situation
. It earned criticisms from many people.
The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) previously claimed that they are monitoring Dela Rosa and they know his whereabouts. Amid his supposed hiding, he and his lawyer, Israelito Torreon, previously met.

Tito Sotto defended Sen. Bato dela Rosa saying that his office remains functional
even if he does not appear in the chamber. The Senate Chief previously confirmed that the “no work, no pay” rule does not apply to senators.
Presidential sister and Sen. Imee Marcos also previously claimed that the office of Sen. dela Rosa remains functional. According to her, the Senator still gets to sign important documents that need his signatures.
