Senate Pres. Tito Sotto Confirms Attempt for Leadership Change

– The Senate President asserted that he can do any work in the Senate amid the rumored leadership change.
Amid the many issues in the Philippine government now, there are talks that the Senate might be having a change in leadership again. Some senators previously denied the rumors that there will be a new Senate president.
The Senate is currently under the leadership of Senate Pres. Tito Sotto. Initially,

Tito Sotto also announced that they will make Sen. Loren Legarda the Senate chief before the 20th Congress ends
. According to him, it is the majority’s plan. During the June 30 plenary session, after the break, Legarda took the podium usually occupied by Sotto or Senate President Pro Tempore Ping Lacson during the session.

Furthermore, Senate Majority Leader Juan Miguel Zubiri also called Sen. Loren Legarda “Madame President” during the session. However, the senators in the majority bloc denied that it is “power-sharing”.
Not long after there were denials of rumored Senate leadership change, Senate Pres. Tito Sotto confirmed that there was an attempt to oust him from the position but it was allegedly halted by the majority. According to him, it does not bother him as he can play any role.
“I can do any work in the Senate. I can be majority leader, minority leader, Senate president, or even a regular senator. I have no problem with that,”
Sotto said.
Another issue that surrounds the chamber is the supposed flood control investigation report of the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee. Based on a

on Inquirer, Sotto refused to release the draft report amid the calls for the full disclosure of it.
