, and in a previous article, his wife, Lani Mercado, appealed for due process for his case.

Recently, during an ecumenical prayer rally for truth and justice on February 8, held at the Aguinaldo Shrine in Kawit, Cavite, Cavite 2nd District Rep. Lani Mercado spoke before their supporters. She attended this event with her sons, Agimat Partylist Rep. Bryan Revilla and Cavite 1st District Rep. Jolo Revilla.

According to Mercado, there were people who encouraged her husband to hide, but he refused to do this. He surrendered and boldly faced the accusations because he believed that he was innocent.

Many factors pushed him to go into hiding, but the former senator faced it with his head held high and full courage, surrendering to the authorities. According to her, this is an incredibly heavy time for their family, but they are drawing strength from the people who support them and from God. What their family’s patriarch is going through right now is painful and infuriating.

“Hinarap niya sa kabila ng sakit at malaking sakripisyo. Sinuko niya ang kanyang dignidad pagkat buo sa kanyang loob na wala siyang kasalanan. Naniniwala siya na kakampi niya ang katotohanan,”

she said.

Revilla remains in custody over a P92.8-million alleged ghost flood control project in Pandi, Bulacan. The prayer rally held for him was attended by preachers from various religious sectors—born-again, Catholic, and Muslim.
