2 Impeachment Complaints vs. Marcos Jr. Accused President of Alleged Betrayal of Public Trust

MARCOS JR. IMPEACHMENT

– The House of Representatives voted to dismiss the impeachment complaints filed against the President.

In the first month of the year, two (2) impeachment raps were filed against Pres. Bongbong Marcos before the Office of the Secretary General of the House of Representatives. The first impeachment complaint was filed by lawyer Andre R. De Jesus.

Respondent ordered and enabled the kidnapping and surrender of former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte to the International Criminal Court (ICC).

Respondent is unfit to serve as President due to drug addiction.

Respondent committed betrayal of public trust when he failed to veto unprogrammed appropriations (UA) and other unconstitutional provisions in the General Appropriations Bill (GAB).

Respondent engaged in graft and corruption through kickbacks and ghost projects.

Respondent created the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) to shield corrupt allies.

Respondent violated the Constitution and betrayed public trust by surrendering former President Duterte to the ICC.

The second impeachment complaint filed against Marcos Jr. was filed by Liza Maza, Teodoro A. Casiño, Renato Reyes Jr., and Atty. Neri Colmenares, among others. It was endorsed by ACT Teachers Partylist Rep. Antonio Tinio, Gabriela Women’s Partylist Rep. Sarah Jane Elago, and Kabataan Partylist Rep. Renee Louise Co.

The impeachment raps against the President was transmitted to the Committee on Justice which decided on the sufficiency of the form and substance of the complaints. The panel ruled that both complaints are sufficient in form.

After ruling that the impeachment raps are sufficient in form, the

House panel junked the impeachment complaints for being insufficient in substance

. Recently, the lower chamber affirmed the dismissal of the two (2) impeachment raps against the President.
