Woman Riding E-Trike Injured After Being Hit by Allegedly Drunk Driver in Manila
A woman driving an e-trike was injured after being hit by a car along F. Manalo Street in Barangay 897, Sta. Ana, Manila.
On Wednesday, February 11, 2026, the incident happened while the roads were still quiet, but it quickly caused concern among nearby residents and motorists.
CCTV footage showed the e-trike moving slowly and carefully along the road when a car suddenly crashed into it. The car was seen counterflowing and forcing an overtake of a tricycle ahead, even though oncoming vehicles were already visible.
Because of the driver’s risky move, the e-trike was struck with force, throwing the woman off balance and causing her injuries.
After the collision, the car driver reportedly tried to leave the scene, but bystanders shouted to stop him after realizing people had been hurt.
Barangay officials quickly responded to the incident. The injured woman was immediately assisted by a rescue team and brought to a nearby hospital for treatment. Barangay leaders invited the car driver to the barangay hall for questioning.
According to officials, the driver appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and was not able to speak clearly during the initial investigation.
An alleged police uniform was also found inside the car, but the barangay is still checking the driver’s identity and background. The driver was unable to present a valid license or identification at the time.
The driver is now under the custody of the barangay and will be turned over to the police for further investigation
