– The Vice President claimed that she no longer talks to senators as they are allegedly being targeted by the Marcos Jr. administration if they talk to her.

The Marcos-Duterte rift is not a secret to the Filipino people anymore. It was in 2024 when the public started noticing the gap between the President and the Vice President after the she resigned from being the secretary of the Department of Education. The Vice President also left the Marcos Jr. Cabinet apart from leaving DepEd.

The rift between the two (2) highest officials in the Philippine government was even more triggered by the arrest and the transfer of the custody of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte to the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague, Netherlands in March 2025. Until now, the former President is detained abroad.

It is no secret to the public that most Duterte allies in the Senate are now part of the minority bloc in the chamber. Their support to the Vice President over several issues are usually evident even with just the way they welcome her at the chamber.
