Inmates in Calapan City Given Chance to Celebrate Valentine’s Day Inside Jail
The inmates in Calapan City District Jail in Oriental Mindoro celebrate Valentine’s Dat with a special jail date.
Married persons deprived of liberty in Calapan City were given the chance to celebrate Valentine’s Day with their spouses.
Even though they are serving time, jail officials showed that relationships and family ties remain important. For this year’s Day of Hearts, the jail organized a special Valentine’s date for qualified married PDLs.
The usual visitation area was transformed into a simple but romantic space where couples could spend meaningful time together.
The event created an atmosphere that felt warm and hopeful, even within the facility’s secure environment.
According to BJMP MIMAROPA spokesperson JO3 Joefrie Anglo, the activity was designed to strengthen family bonds and provide emotional support to PDLs. He explained that support from loved ones plays a big role in a person’s healing and growth while in detention.
The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology believes that keeping family connections strong can help PDLs stay motivated and focused on improving themselves. Emotional support from spouses and relatives can guide them as they prepare for a better future once they complete their sentence.
“Ang pag-ibig at suporta ng pamilya ang isa sa pinakamalakas na sandigan ng bawat PDL sa kanilang pagbangon. Sa pamamagitan ng ganitong programa, ipinapaalala natin na ang pag-asa at pagkakataong magbago ay buhay—at ang pag-ibig ay hindi kailanman nakukulong,”
BJMP MIMAROPA Spokesperson JO3 Joefrie Anglo said.
