A Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) chairperson from Barangay Bubukal in

Sta. Cruz, Laguna

earned criticism for an unsanitary practice after touching some food in a convenience store with his bare hand.

Videos of SK Chairperson

Mark Adrian Napiza

touching siopao and hot dogs at a convenience store went viral, in which he was seen saying they felt so “cold.”

“Malamig lahat,” he said, touching some of the siopao in a storage container.

Napiza then went to a storage containing hot dogs and touched some of them as well, exclaiming that they all felt so “cold.”

He then went back to the siopao, with one of his companions urging him to just “get one.”

“Touching all the siopao with bare hands?!! While your equally idiotic friends laughed,” the user wrote on Monday, February 16, sharing the

video

“Do you not understand how germs work? Do you not care about anyone else? You are a menace. Seriously, rethink your life choices. Do better, people!” the user added.

Some claimed that Napiza had addressed the issue but then “deactivated” his account. It allegedly reads:

Hello? I’m Mark Adrian Napiza and I want to sincerely apologize for what I did. I take full responsibility for my actions. I was drunk at that time but it does not excuse it.

I’m truly sorry for that. I regret my actions and the disappointment I caused.

I’m ready to be accountable for what I did and to face the consequences of my behavior.

Again, humihingi po ako ng dispensa at nangangakong hindi na muling mauulit pa.

Meanwhile, it is unsanitary to touch ready-to-eat food with one’s bare hands, especially if one does not intend to buy it.

Transfer of germs, bacteria and even viruses may occur, potentially causing foodborne illnesses.

For this reason, tongs are placed beside the containers for customers’ convenience.
