Leveling Buffs & Useful Items
Before we jump into the actual leveling activities, let’s go over a few buffs that can help increase your XP gains:
Draught of Ten Lands.
This leveling potion gives you +10% XP for one hour, but it only works up to level 49. You can buy it from Provisioner Stoutforge (Alliance) or Provisioner Mukra (Horde).
Holiday and Event Buffs
War Mode.
Heirlooms.
Heirlooms don’t give a flat XP buff anymore, but they still make leveling much smoother thanks to their scaling stats, set bonuses, and the simple fact that you never have to worry about upgrading your gear every couple of levels. They’re account-wide, work on every alt you create, and save you a ton of time you’d otherwise spend hunting for gear drops.
Your Character & Starting Experience
As far as leveling goes, some classes naturally feel a bit faster thanks to their mobility and moving speed, but most of the time, these advantages aren’t game-changing enough to force you into a specific pick. The only notable leveling perk comes from
Allied Races
non-Evoker Dracthyr
, as they
start at level 10
instead of level 1, which lets you skip the entire 1-10 climb and save somewhere between 30-60 minutes.
If you decide to go with a race or class that starts at level 1, the quickest way to hit level 10 is
Exile’s Reach
. Available to any character, this starting zone is designed specifically for new players and offers a smooth beginner-friendly introduction to the game, along with very fast XP gains, allowing you to jump from 1 to 10 in under an hour.
Main Methods for Fast Leveling
Questing
First off, you can
do the main campaign of the current expansion
. This is a great option for those who want to explore the game’s most up-to-date story and narrative in a more structured way. This method won’t give you the absolute fastest XP per hour, but when paired with XP buffs and other activities, it still makes a pretty solid option.
Alternatively, you can
level through older expansions using Chromie Time
. Chromie Time unlocks all major questlines from previous expansions, from Classic all the way up to the expansion before the current one, with every quest and objective scaling to your level.
The fastest and most rewarding timelines are Legion, Cataclysm, and Warlords of Draenor.
Chromie Time is available from level 10 until you hit the pre-current-expansion cap (right now that’s level 70). You can find Chromie near your faction’s Embassy in every capital city.
Dungeon Spamming
Running dungeons is one of the quickest ways to powerlevel, especially if your group is experienced and knows the content well.
In efficient groups, a dungeon run often takes under 10 minutes, and a single clear can give you 2-3 levels on average, especially at lower brackets. However, if you search for teammates via Dungeon Finder, your chances of landing in a truly good team aren’t very high, so it’s better to try to team up with your guildmates, friends, or any players you already know.
To squeeze even more XP out of dungeon leveling, we recommend mixing in a few extra activities:
Dungeon quests
. They have pretty simple objectives, but offer good extra XP and rewards.
Delves.
Timewalking Dungeons.
Timewalking lets you revisit instances from older expansions and gives absolutely massive XP rewards. Timewalking dungeons rotate every three weeks, so whenever the event is active, you should always make it your top priority.
Dungeon spamming can get very repetitive, so we highly recommend taking breaks and mixing it with questing or some other leveling activities. For example, if you run Timewalking dungeons, you can use the queue time to complete quests, or do an hour of questing, and then switch to an hour of dungeon spamming.
Extra Buffs for Players With Max-Level Characters
If you already have at least one max-level character, there are a few account-wide bonuses you can take advantage of:
Once you’ve completed The War Within campaign on any character, you unlock
Adventure Mode
for your entire Warband. This means your every alt can access any zone right away, level wherever they want, and do campaign chapters in any order.
Having max-level characters also unlocks a passive
Warband XP bonus
. For every capped character in your Warband, you receive an additional XP increase up to 25% total.
Additional Leveling Methods
If you’re looking for alternative ways to speed things up, or simply want to break away from the usual questing/dungeon routine, there are a bunch of special systems and events that can boost your leveling.
Remix Expansions
Blizzard occasionally releases Remix versions of past expansions in the form of special limited-time events that allow you to play through a reworked expansion with massively accelerated progression. Right now, we have Legion Remix, where you can create a fresh character, max out extremely fast, and then transfer the character to retail WoW fully leveled and even geared.

Before a new expansion launches, Blizzard often releases a pre-patch event designed to help players catch up quickly. During

Midnight expansion
(expected in early 2026), you’ll once again be able to boost your levels incredibly fast in a very short amount of time.
Earthen Racial XP Bonus
If you’re leveling an
