9 Navotas Cops Removed From Post Over Alleged Torture of 2 Suspects

9 Navotas Cops Dismissed From Duty Over Alleged Torture of 2 Murder Suspects

Nina Navotas cops have been relieved from duty after being linked to the alleged torture of two murder suspects.

According to the Philippine National Police, the officers were removed from their posts as part of the investigation into claims that the suspects were forced to confess.

The relief order covered not only the eight officers directly accused but also the chief investigator of the Navotas Police Station. Authorities said the investigator was removed for supposedly failing to act on earlier complaints raised by detainees.

All nine have been transferred to the District Personnel Holding and Accounting Unit while the inquiry continues.

“Sa walo, nadagdagan sila ng isa. Ito ‘yung kanilang chief investigation officer. Sila ngayon ay mga relieve,

” PNP spokesperson BGen. Ranfulf Tuaño said.

The two suspects were arrested on November 8 in connection with a shooting incident in Barangay Bangkulasi last November 3, 2025. Their lawyer claimed that the torture happened inside the intelligence section of the Navotas City Police Station.

The suspects later filed complaints on November 20, accusing the officers of grave misconduct, serious irregularities in the performance of duty, conduct unbecoming of a police officer, and violations of the Anti-Torture Act. Their case was brought to the Internal Affairs Service for review.

Despite the allegations, the Navotas City Police Station initially denied that any torture took place. However, with two agencies now conducting investigations, the case remains active and is being closely monitored.

The incident has raised concerns among local residents and human rights advocates, who hope for a fair and transparent process. As the investigation continues, the dismissed officers will remain off duty until authorities complete the investigation and determine the appropriate actions.
