According to the Palace, President Bongbong Marcos and his family are open to this.
PRESIDENT BONGBONG MARCOS – The First Family is open to undergoing a lifestyle check, according to Malacañang.
Public servants, especially those in high government positions, would always be subjected to the keen eyes of the people, especially their lifestyle and their spending. Recently, amid the buzz after the reports about the first son and House Majority Leader, Sandro Marcos, as the new “pork barrel king,” the Palace expressed that the first family would be open to a lifestyle check.
Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro told Palace reporters that the First Family has always been open to dispel suspicions of corruption. She said,
“Nandiyan na po iyan. Wala namang pinagbabawal sa lifestyle check, kahit sino po.”
Castro added that President Bongbong Marcos has read the report from the Philippine Center of Investigative Journalism (PCIJ) about the PHP 15.8-billion allocation from the national budget that Sandro Marcos got from 2023 to 2025.
“As of now, I cannot speak for and behalf of Congressman Sandro Marcos at sabi naman po niya, siya po ang nagboluntaryo, kung anuman po ang issue sa kaniya, siya mismo ang pupunta sa ICI para maimbestigahan po siya, bigyan lamang po siya ng date para po magkaroon ng tamang schedule,”
she said.
To recall, Marcos Jr. ordered lifestyle checks on all government officials in August 2025 amid the controversies related to the anomalous flood control projects.
