Tuguegarao Worker Goes Viral for Gaming on Duty

TUGUEGARAO – A Tuguegarao City Hall employee has gone viral after being caught on video playing a computer game while on duty, sparking criticism from netizens and calls for accountability.

Ybanag, who geotagged the post to confirm the location, expressed his frustration in the caption he wrote at 9:25 a.m. that day.

“Good morning, Tweraw [Tuguegarao]. Ganito ang mga empleyado ng City Hall. Oras ng trabaho, oras ng laro,”

he noted, calling attention to the worker’s behavior. He also appealed to the appropriate government body, adding,

“Naka tsinelas pa ata. Sa bahay na lang siya sana, ganun din naman.”

Under the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees, individuals working in government are required to demonstrate “commitment to public interest” and “professionalism,” values that emphasize diligence, respect for duty hours, and proper behavior while in the workplace. These standards exist to ensure that public institutions maintain trust and credibility among citizens.

The viral post has sparked ongoing discussions about accountability and work ethics within government offices. Many netizens argued that such actions undermine public confidence, especially at a time when efficiency and transparency in public service are closely scrutinized. As of now, it remains unclear whether Tuguegarao City Hall or the Civil Service Commission has taken disciplinary action regarding the incident, but calls for appropriate measures continue to circulate online.
