Leila de Lima Believes Claire Castro Fit for DOJ Secretary: “Matapang din ‘yun”

– The former Department of Justice (DOJ) Secretary believes that Malacañang press official undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro is allegedly fit to be the next Secretary of Justice (SOJ).

Last October, then-Justice Secretary

Boying Remulla was included in the shortlist of applicants for Ombudsman submitted to President Bongbong Marcos

. The Judiciary and Bar Council (JBC) listed seven (7) applicants in the said shortlist out of 17 initial applicants.

Not long after the JBC submitted the shortlist of applicants for Ombudsman, Marcos Jr. appointed Remulla. He left the position of the Secretary of Justice or SOJ vacant and the department is currently led by acting SOJ Fredderick Vida.

Ombudsman Boying Remulla succeeded former Ombudsman Samuel Martires who retired last July. Currently, Marcos Jr. has yet to appoint the new DOJ Secretary.

party-list Rep. Leila de Lima who is not only a former senator but also a former DOJ secretary claimed that she allegedly saw the list of the names of the people who are considered for the position of the SOJ. She claimed that many of them are supposedly qualified for the position.

“Well mahirap pong sabihin, eh kasi akita ko naman sa listahan medyo karamihan naman sa kanila deserve. Hindi naman po official list pa ‘yun, pangalan lang,”
