PAGASA Reports Tropical Depression Wilma Moving Toward Eastern Visayas

PAGASA Releases Latest Update on Tropical Depression Wilma

PAGASA UPDATE – The weather agency reported that Tropical Depression Wilma is moving toward Eastern Visayas.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released its latest tropical cyclone bulletin at 11 a.m., announcing that Tropical Depression Wilma remains steady as it moves west-southwest toward Eastern Visayas.

As of 10 a.m., the center of Wilma was about 235 kilometers east of Borongan City in Eastern Samar. It continues to bring maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour and gusts reaching 55 kilometers per hour while traveling at 15 kilometers per hour.

PAGASA noted that strong winds from Wilma extend up to 220 kilometers from the center. Because of this, several areas are under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1, which means strong winds may be felt within 36 hours. However, the affected residents are still urged to stay alert.

Signal No. 1 is currently raised over parts of Sorsogon, Masbate, Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, Samar, Biliran, Leyte, Southern Leyte, Cebu, Bohol, Negros Occidental, Negros Oriental, Iloilo, Capiz, Guimaras, Siquijor, and portions of Surigao, Agusan, Dinagat Islands, and Camiguin.

Aside from winds, heavy rains are expected due to the combined effects of Wilma and the shear line. PAGASA advised communities to monitor rainfall warnings and prepare for possible flooding or landslides.

Gale warnings are raised over the northern and eastern seaboards, with waves reaching up to 5.5 meters in some areas. Fisherfolk and small boat operators are strongly advised to stay in port and avoid sea travel.

Wilma

is expected to make landfall or pass near Eastern Visayas or the Dinagat Islands between tonight and early tomorrow. It will then move across the Visayas and may reach northern Palawan by Monday (December 8, 2025).

Although it is predicted to stay as a tropical depression, it may strengthen slightly once it reaches the West Philippine Sea.
