Amid the Flood Control Probe, Ombudsman Boying Remulla Speaks on ICI
Ombudsman Boying Remulla claimed that the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) only has a month or two before it stops its flood control investigation.
Amid the supposed multi-billion flood control corruption in the Philippines, President Bongbong Marcos ordered an independent commission to probe the issue to be formed. The Independent Commission for Infrastructure or ICI was created then.
The ICI is led by former Justice Andres Reyes Jr. as its chairman and former Public Works chief Rogelio Singson and Rossana Fajardo as the members. The three-member body has invited several government officials tagged in the flood control mess.
Former House Speaker
Martin Romualdez was one of the government officials who appeared before the ICI
. The former House Chief vowed that he will help in any way he can to speed up the resolution of the issue.

Romualdez stepped down from the House speakership amid the accusations of flood control corruption hurled against him. His nephew, presidential son and Ilocos Norte Congressman Sandro Marcos, also recently appeared before the commission.
The younger Marcos appeared before the ICI after former House Budget Appropriations Committee chairman Zaldy Co tagged him in the budget insertion issue. He stressed that “no one is above the law” and voluntarily submitted himself for the investigation.
The ICI has previous recommended the Office of the Ombudsman over the filing of charges against some of the accused in the flood control mess. The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) also filed its recommendation.
“Tingin ko mga isa, dalawang buwan na lang ‘yan at maari nang i-turnover sa amin ang kanilang mga trinabaho,”

, Ombudsman Boying Remulla further stressed that the ICI is not forever. He emphasized that there’s a law that created the Office of the Ombudsman.
“‘Yun ang direksyon niyan, kasi hindi naman forever ang ICI at meron namang batas na nag-create ng Office of the Ombudsman na ngayon naman ay very active kami,”
Remulla added.
