A woman was praised for her bravery after rescuing dogs from a burning building in Mandaue City, Cebu, on Wednesday morning, December 10.

, the niece of the building’s owner, went viral as she was seen saving dogs from the fire-engulfed structure.

The incident occurred on the morning of December 10 on BB Cabahug Street in Barangay Guizo, Mandaue City.

Maningo was seen lobbying two dogs from the balcony as thick smoke angrily billowed from the building.

A few moments later, Maningo disappeared from view, prompting cries of concern from people below.

She later reappeared and began descending after a ladder was offered to her. A firefighter then climbed the same ladder to reach her.

Videos of her daring rescue circulated online, with Filipinos praising her for putting the animals’ safety first.

The incident also caught the attention of the

Animal Kingdom Foundation

, an animal welfare organization.

“In the middle of the flames, in Brgy. Guizo, Mandaue, Cebu, this pet owner made sure her two dogs were safe before she saved herself,” the AFK said.

“She chose love over fear. When the fire broke out, she refused to leave her dogs behind — proving that family isn’t just who we live with, but who we fight for. Kudos to this pet owner!” the org added with a medal emoji.

Many Filipinos also expressed heartfelt appreciation for Maningo’s courageous actions.

Reports

said the fire started on the building’s first floor.

The second floor served as a stockroom, while stay-in workers, including Maningo lived on the third floor.

No fatalities or injuries were reported, but property damage was estimated at P2 million.
