Police Arrest 3 Hold-Uppers Involved in Series of Robberies
Three hold-uppers using improvised firearms in a series of robberies in Rodriguez, Rizal and parts of Quezon City were arrested.
According to the Rodriguez Police, their most recent target was a burger shop where two of the suspects, identified only as Marvin, 21, and Kalbo, 33, declared a holdup during the early hours of the morning.
The two allegedly took P5,000 in cash and a tablet from the 19-year-old cashier who was on duty at the shop. Their companion, Ryan, 21, was also linked to another robbery in November involving a gadget store.
In previous incidents, the trio had also been connected to a separate cellphone shop robbery, where the victim pleaded for help and begged not to be harmed.
The three admitted committing the crimes, saying they were close friends and were driven by financial struggles. Marvin said it was caused by their urgent need for money, while Ryan claimed he was simply influenced by his friends.
The Rodriguez Police have strengthened their monitoring efforts, especially since theft cases tend to rise during the holiday season. They reminded the public to stay alert and report any suspicious individuals in their surroundings.
The suspects are now detained at the Rodriguez PNP custodial facility and face charges of robbery hold-up and illegal possession of firearms.
