DPWH Chief Vince Dizon Speaks Why He Won’t Seek an Electoral Position

– The Department of Public Works and Highways Chief announced that he is not running in the 2028 Elections.

Amid the plan to conduct

“cleansing” inside the DPWH, then-Public Works Chief Manuel Bonoan resigned from the position

. There were calls for him to step down after the supposed multi-billion flood control corruption issue broke out.

Several officials of DPWH were tagged in the alleged anomalies in the flood control projects funded by the government. Many of them were relieved from their positions and there are those who are faced with charges now.

After Bonoan’s resignation, Pres. Bongbong Marcos appointed Vince Dizon who was then the chief of the Department of Transportation to be the country’s new DPWH secretary. In his first weeks in office, he claimed that he will seek for the courtesy resignation of all officials in the agency.

DPWH Sec. Vince Dizon also vowed to abolish the agency’s internal investigation committee

. According to him, he does not believe that an agency can probe itself. On social media, many netizens expressed their belief that Dizon aged fast after assuming his current post amid the flood control mess in the country.

Dizon stressed that he is not a politician. According to the Public Works Chief, he is only a government employee who works in and out for close to three (3) decades already.

“I’ve said this repeatedly already, I am not a politician, trabahante lang ako. I am just an employee that has been working in and out of government for the last 28 years, that’s all I do,”

According DPWH Chief Vince Dizon, he wants to return to the private sector after his term as the public works chief ends. Meanwhile, he assured that he is willing to be in public service if he will be asked to. Based on the

Dizon claimed that he does not care if there are praises for or criticisms against him. He stressed that his job is not to please people. Recently, Senator

of the agency.
