Axle, the viral dog from Mountain Province, will have his justice soon.
VIRAL DOG AXLE – The video has sparked outrage online, and the prosecutor has finally accepted the complaint.
A video of the brutal killing of Axle was caught on CCTV, and it went viral. The video has sparked outrage among people and stirred national anger.
It happened in Sadanga, Mountain Province, where a municipal official reportedly repeatedly struck an
American Pitbull
during a community gathering. What made it worse was that no one around him intervened or objected to the act. They let him continue to do it until life left the body of the helpless and innocent animal.
Axle died from his injuries.
“He didn’t bite, threaten, or harm anyone. He simply showed a normal canine behavior that was met with anger and superstition instead of understanding.”
Such a gesture is punishable under Republic Act No. 10631, also known as the amended Animal Welfare Act of 1998, and can result in imprisonment for one to two years. As per the latest development, the Office of the Prosecutor in Bontoc has finally accepted a complaint related to the distressing case of Axle.
The first two attempts have been rejected due to “insufficient evidence,” but the third one already has strong evidence, which was finally accepted.
“This marked a significant step toward accountability and justice for the animals involved,”
the Mountain Province police said. They formally referred the case on December 15, for violation of Republic Act No. 8485, otherwise known as the Animal Welfare Act.
