Sen. Robin Padilla Disappointed over Former Pres. Duterte’s Continued ICC Detention

– The Duterte ally Senator spoke on the continued detention of former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte under the International Criminal Court (ICC).

. The foreign court recently junked the interim release appeal of the former Chief Executive.
Duterte waived his right to personally appear at the hearing held by the ICC last November 28 over his interim release appeal. He signed a waiver and he was represented by his legal counsel, British-Israeli lawyer Nicholas Kaufman.
Kaufman stressed that they did their best for the interim release of the former President. Then, he claimed that they might appeal for his client’s interim release again after the releasing of Duterte’s medical reports.

Shortly after the interim release appeal of Duterte was rejected by the ICC, Kaufman confirmed that they received the former President’s medical reports but it’s still confidential. The foreign court ordered the former President to undergo a medical checkup after his lawyer claimed that he is allegedly unfit to stand trial.
