Vince Dizon, DPWH Secretary, Speaks on Upcoming Hiring of Fresh Grads

– The Department of Public Works and Highways is set to conduct a massive recruitment beginning January 2026.
The Department of Public Works and Highways has become the center of controversy amid the flood control mess in the Philippines. Several officials of the government agency were tagged in the supposed multi-billion flood control corruption in the country. It triggered the so-called “Trillion Peso March”.

Thousands of Filipinos joined the street protests last September 21 and November 30 to call for an end to corruption amid the issue in the country. The government vowed to pursue accountability over the issue.
Amid the supposed multi-billion flood control corruption, the DPWH had a change of leadership from former Public Works Sec. Manuel Bonoan to Vince Dizon, a former chief of the Department of Transportation. He conducted a sweeping review on the proposed budget of the agency as ordered by President Bongbong Marcos.

DPWH Chief asked the bicam to restore P45 billion on the proposed fund of the agency
. It was not granted by the committee.

Amid the supposed massive corruption issue in the Philippines and the criticisms against the DPWH, Public Works chief Vince Dizon announced that they are set to conduct a massive hiring for the positions in the agency. Based on a post of Inquirer on social media, the agency plans to start the hiring in January next year.
“January magsisimula na kami ng mga massive recruitment sa mga schools sa UP, sa UST… All over. Hindi lang sa Metro Manila kung hindi sa iba’t ibang lugar sa Pilipinas,”
he said.
According to DPWH chief Vince Dizon, they will be recruiting engineers and accountants to bring in “fresh blood. He called on the schools as he hopes that they will help in the said recruitment of the fresh graduates.
“Hopefully you can help us recruit people, make people realize especially the young generation na important sila mag-participate dito sa reporma natin,”
Dizon said.

“The best way to participate in this reform effort sa DPWH is to join DPWH. We need young, dynamic, idealistic people to join DPWH and you will be the ones to really turn the page and reform this institution from within,”
he expressed.
