Malacañang Suspends Work for Government Employees From December 29 to January 2

Malacañang Palace Announces Gov’t Work Suspensions December 29, 2025 to January 2, 2026

Malacañang Palace has announced the suspension of work in all government offices from December 29, 2025 to January 2, 2026.

The work suspension is based on Memorandum Circular No. 111, which was signed by Executive Secretary Ralph Recto on Thursday, December 18, under the authority of the President.

The memorandum explains that the decision aims to support the well-being of government employees, many of whom travel long distances to spend the holidays with loved ones.

With the extended break, employees are given the chance to enjoy meaningful time with their families after a long year of work. For many, the holiday season is one of the few opportunities to reunite with relatives, especially those living outside Metro Manila.

The added travel days are expected to help ease stress and reduce the rush of holiday trips.

Despite the suspension, Malacañang clarified that government agencies providing essential services will continue their operations. Offices related to health services, disaster preparedness, and emergency response will remain open to ensure public safety and uninterrupted assistance.
